… or maybe optimization is better way to describe some recent changes:
Some upcoming changes:
… that’s it for now.
I’ll be posting videos & screen grabs soon (for this & other areas of the site); but the iPhone stuff is so easy and is intended to be so familiar, there isn’t much need for lengthy set of instructions.
Just access everywhereToDos.com like you would in any browser; you’ll get sent to the proper iPhone specific login page. Overall, the experience is very iPhone & a little stripped down for now. There are still a couple small open items (like making a better “datepicker” & cleaning up a todo item’s info form).
But I don’t own an iPhone? You can publish todos via email (set up a pin_number in preferences to enable that feature). I’m still looking into a low cost SMS solution, as well.
Don’t know what JOTT is? Well, get a clue: http://jott.com, if you can’t wait or aren’t sure you care … JOTT is a voice recognition service. You configure to recognize your phone number so that JOTT, it self; as well as other third party applications (which JOTT calls Links) can also accept speech to text publishing.
That’s significant, to say the least. Now that everywhereToDos.com is JOTT linkable; you can call JOTT’s 800 number, and dictate a ToDo. Speech to text ToDos!!
Here’s what you do … provided you have a JOTT account:
It’s slightly cumbersome, but worth the small hassle.
Look for a streamlining of the setup in the future.
And if you don’t JOTT yet; go sign up — it’s free & as far as getting things done goes, this is the way to track your tasks when you’re not at a computer, PDA, or internet enabled mobile device.
You can now publish ToDos by email!
It’s pretty simple, too:
Your email address for ToDo publishing will look like this:
username.123456@everywheretodos.com
You’ll need to set the Pin Number by logging in & clicking your username. That will take you to the preferences page. From there, just enter a 4 to 6 digit number or combination of numbers & letters (but no special characters, like #, @ or $).
That’s it; now just send an email … the Subject of the email is the ToDo; and the list the email generated ToDo will be added to is called “INBOX.” Once the new ToDo is in your INBOX you can move it wherever you want.
In the future, a pin number will be randomly generated as part of registration. Also, more features will be publishable via the body of an email (like date due, notes and more).
More new features, and one other on the horizon:
The Preferences will drive lots of other functionality & features, though for now it just allows you to set these three: display name, theme, & a pin number. The display name is what people will see on Public lists & elsewhere (instead of your first name, last name or user name). The theme is exactly what it sounds like; so far there are only 3 themes (striped, clean & large). And they just barely change the look and and feel of lists (but hopefully offer good alternative ways to view lists). Lastly, the pin number; which will be used to enable eMail based published to a list.
That pin number will be used like this: your everywhereTodos.com email address will look like:
username.123456@everywheretodos.com
This feature ought to be available very soon; where your emails to that address will have the subject line become a ToDo in a list that gets autogenerated as your “Inbox.” The pin number can be 6 numbers and / or letters. Emails submitted without a matching username & pin will get discarded.
Also, to access preferences is to click this link:
… or click your user name when viewing your lists.
For Public lists, you now have a few different viewing options. Once you click the i next to a list name you can set a list to be publicly available. After it’s “public” you can share the list via a web page, RSS or iGoogle module.
That’s it, for now.
